Ready, Aim, Mentorship! First Hunt Foundation’s “Shoot for a Cause” Returns This July
If your idea of a perfect summer Saturday involves sharp shooting, great camaraderie, and a mouth-watering prime rib dinner, clear your calendar. On July 11, 2026, the First Hunt Foundation is hosting its annual “Shoot for a Cause”fundraising event at the Pondera Shooting Sports Club in Conrad, Montana.
Whether you’re a seasoned marksman, a passionate archery enthusiast, or a beginner looking to support local conservation, this family-friendly day on the range has something for everyone. Best of all, every single dollar raised goes directly toward mentoring new hunters right here in Big Sky Country—keeping Montana’s rich outdoor heritage alive and thriving.
Why This Cause Matters
The First Hunt Foundation is entirely dedicated to passing the torch to the next generation. In Montana, hunting isn't just a hobby; it’s a way of life rooted in deep respect for wildlife, land management, and conservation.
By coming out to shoot, your registration fees and raffle purchases fund the gear, background checks, education, and hands-on guidance required to help new hunters confidently and ethically take their very first steps into the wilderness.
Event Schedule: Saturday, July 11, 2026
You won't have to wake up at the crack of dawn for this event (a massive win for a Saturday!). Here is how the day shakes out:
- 11:00 AM — Check-In: Show up, get settled, and stretch your shoulders.
- 12:00 PM — The Shoot Starts: Pull! Aim! Release! Time to put your firearms or archery skills to the test in a fun, supportive environment.
- 5:00 PM (Approx.) — Cocktail Hour: Swap stories about your perfect shots (and hilarious misses) over a cold beverage right after shooting wraps up.
- 6:00 PM — Prime Rib Dinner: Come for the shooting, stay for the legendary food. A hearty prime rib dinner will be served to cap off a fantastic day.
Throughout the afternoon and evening, there will also be plenty of laughs, high spirits, and spectacular prizes and rafflesup for grabs. You might just walk away with more than just bragging rights!
